Mon Repos Conservation Park is landward of Woongarra Marine Park, and compliments the special management zoning in the marine park for the turtle nesting areas, and adjacent coastal dunes and waters. [Seemaps]

The special management areas are as follows:Diving with a Heron Turtle

  • A monitoring area covering the whole marine park monitors the effects of trawling on marine turtles during the turtle season from 15 October of any year to 30 April of the succeeding year.
  • A protection area covers a strip of sea one nautical mile seaward from high tide for the length of the Park. Trawling is not allowed in this area during the months of November, December and January of any year.
  • From 15 October of any year to 30 April of the succeeding year:

    · No vehicles or domestic animals are allowed on the beach. 
    · Lights are limited to one handheld electric torch (3V max) per person.
    · Vessel usage, swimming and fishing are not allowed. 
    · Light sources that change the natural light horizon enough to disorientate turtles are prohibited.
